Christ University, started as Christ College in 1969, was the dream come true of late Bishop Jonas Thaliath CMI and the founders of Dharmaram College. Christ educational institutions are Christian minority institutions. The primary focus of these institutions is the educational and social uplift of the minority Christian students who lag behind in educational opportunities.

Though minority institutions, Christ educational institutions are very secular in outlook. Students of all castes, religions, creeds and languages are encouraged to be part of this temple of learning. Christ PU College - Residential, opened in 2005, belongs to the family of Christ educational institutions sharing the same vision and passion for excellence. It is situated on Mysuru Road at Kaniminike Village in a sprawling campus of more than 70 acres of land.

The Faculty of Engineering under Christ University offers Engineering degrees and MBA course in the same campus at Christ University College of Engineering. Christ Pre University College - Residential offers courses in Science and Commerce at Pre-University level to aspiring students to shape up their future in an environment conducive for learning and overall development of their personality.
