In its latest stride to begin an inclusive international qualification to aspiring minds, Christ Junior College - Residential proudly announced its flagship programme for Pre University Student - The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. After a rigorous and challenging authorization Process which lasted for three years, Christ Junior College - Residential has been awarded the status of an IB World School to launch its highly challenging and most demanding IB Diploma Programme from March 2014. The Diploma Programme prepares students for effective participation in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society as they:
  • develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically
  • acquire breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding, studying courses from 6 subject groups
  • develop the skills and a positive attitude towards learning that will prepare them for higher education
  • study at least two languages and increase understanding of cultures, including their own
  • make connections across traditional academic disciplines and explore the nature of knowledge through the programme's unique theory of knowledge course
  • undertake in-depth research into an area of interest through the lens of one or more academic disciplines in the extended essay
  • enhance their personal and interpersonal development through creativity, activity and service

Students with any one of the following qualifications can be considered for admission to IBDP.
  • Students who successfully completed IB MYP(Middle Years Programme) with a minimum of 36 IB points and also who have completed the core requirements successfully
  • Students who successfully completed Cambridge IGCSE, Oxford 'O' levels or any other International Board Examinations with minimum 80% marks
  • Students who successfully completed ICSE ,CBSE or any other Indian Board Examinations in Grade 10 with a minimum 90% marks or equivalent criteria
  • Students who successfully completed state board examinations with 90% marks and who demonstrate good communication and thinking skills.

GENERAL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED DURING THE ADMISSION
1. The Pass certificate in Grade10
2. Last 2 years academic record including the record of the internal assessments
3 Recommendation letters from the previous school with one from the Principal, one from the English teacher and one from the Mathematics teacher
4. Transfer certificate and Conduct certificate
5. Migration certificate from the previous instituition
6. Letter from the parent guaranteeing the funding for the course
7. A personal statement stating the reasons for joining CJC - R
8. Soft copy of the recent photograph of the student and the parent

1. Copy of the Special Need Assessment Certificate or any academic or psychological assessment from arecognized Assessment Council.
2. A report from the Special Needs Counsellor in the previous school.
ADMISSION PROCESS

The Admission to the IB Diploma programme will be overseen by an admission committee under the leadership of the Diploma Programme Coordinator. An aspirant to the Diploma Programme has to go through the following steps while seeking admission. A student who does not meet the documentary evidences will not be called for the admission tests.

  • A written test which tests Reasoning and Aptitude, Mathematical skills, Science skills, Language skills and General awareness of the candidate
  • A personal interview by the Diploma Programme Coordinator and the Principal.
  • The time and venue of the admission tests and interview will be informed to the students via Email or over phone.
  • A student who meets the criteria will have to meet the Principal who in turn will take the final decision on the admission. Admission will be based on first come first serve basis. Once the admission is granted, students must enroll after paying the stipulated fees.
  • Every student will be granted admission provisionally and the admission is only confirmed once the students submit the Grade 10 Original Marks Card or Certificates and only if they successfully complete the bridge course. This is particularly important for those who are from non IB backgrounds.
Skills required for a Student seeking admission in Christ Junior College - Residential
The International Diploma Programme is a rigorous and challenging course and therefore the students seeking admission to the course will be required to demonstrate the skills and attitudes required for a 21 Century learner. Some of these skills are critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration and leadership, lifelong learning, self-direction and personal management, communication, creativity and innovation, social responsibility, cultural, global and environmental awareness, digital and technological literacy, manipulative and analytical skills, research skills, data processing etc.

The Core of the Curriculum model consists of three components and are mandatory for the successful completion of the programme and certification.
1.The Extended Essay
The Extended Essay of some 4,000 words offers the opportunity for the IB student to investigate a topic of special interest, usually one of the student's six DP subjects, and acquaints him with the independent research and writing skills expected at university. It is intended to promote high-level research and writing skills, intellectual discovery and creativity - resulting in approximately 40 hours of work.
2. Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
The interdisciplinary TOK course is designed to develop a coherent approach to learning that transcends and unifies the academic areas and encourages appreciation of other cultural perspectives.014-16
3. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)
CAS is at the heart of the Diploma programme, involving students in a range of activities that take place alongside their academic studies throughout the IB Diploma Programme.
With regard to the choice of subjects, the student is requested to make informed choices keeping in mind the future career options and the University requirements, in consultation with the Career Counsellor or University Admission Counsellors.
